WELCOME BACK.

Hello. It's been a minute...

Lots of stuff in the pipeline.

Tonight at Conservatory was:

Witchcraft
Dead Child
Blood of the Sun
Los Hijos Del Diablos

Blood of the Sun was bad-ass. Sort of like Lynard Skynard doing some jams with Deep Purple and iron Butterfly. Kidna doomy, kinda sludgy. I told them that they made me want to shoot whiskey and drive my supercharged 454 SS down the highway, to which the guitarist said "Mission Accomplished!"

Sweet.

Witchcrafts singer was faintly ill. The guy just looked horrible. Had to sit down for most of the show and have his roadie sing a couple songs. He came on stage and said that he saw a doctor in Whichita and he told them that he shouldnt play to which he replied "But non of us are pussies."

I could tell the guy was just aching. Tomorrow they play Ozzfest at NOON. Good god, I feel for the guy. I've heard they cancled a show due to illness.

But what do you do when you are in the US from Sweden and your 3 hours from the first gig of a festival tour? Shit. Good luck dudes.

Other stuff in the pipleine...

Saviours in September.

Judas Preist/Motorhead/Testament at the Zoo Amp...

Overkill/Warbringer later in the year.

SAVIOURS ON HEADBANGERS BALL!

Oakland, CA quartet SAVIOURS’ brand new music video, for the track “Narcotic Sea”, saw its worldwide premiere yesterday via MTV2’s Headbangers Blog. Check out the mind-bending clip online now at this location. The video will make its world television premiere as part of the February 19 edition of the network’s long-running Headbangers Ball program.

“Narcotic Sea” is taken from SAVIOURS’ new album Into Abaddon, out now on Kemado Records. The video was directed by Dante Della Maggiore (Zombie Attack!) and features the band performing the song in a live setting as a consciousness-expanding quasi-storyline unfolds.

“The Narcotic Sea video is basically about being in a self-induced haze during the Earth’s final days,” SAVIOURS drummer Scott Batiste explains. “We wanted to capture “a little bit of Oakland” in our first video so, part of the video features us jamming out in a West Oakland warehouse. The rest is us on a quest for killer times in spite of all the decay and depression that surrounds us each day. We took a trip up Highway 1 (north of San Francisco) and hit up some killer rock formations and beaches and just partied, basically. Dante Della Maggiore, who directed the video, then took all of the footage and tripped it out as hard as possible. We’re very stoked on how it turned out and we’re ready for the world to get a glimpse of what SAVIOURS is about.”

SAVIOURS are currently in the midst of a massive US tour alongside fellow Bay Area hessians HIGH ON FIRE, and will soon be joining FU MANCHU for a series of dates.

NEW TYGERS OF PAN TANG!

NWOBHM legends TYGERS OF PAN TANG have issued the following update:

"February has been a very busy month for the band. The recording of the new album, 'Animal Instinct', is now complete and is in the very capable hands of Ben Matthews, who is mixing the final versions. Confirmation of the track listings will be released very shortly so watch this space. We are working with Cargo Records on releasing the album in five phases. This sounds complicated but we want to make sure the promotion and advertising are carried out to the maximum.

Phase one – pre-orders dispatched
Phase two - Italy release date of 9th April to coincide with tour
Phase three - UK and Europe release date of 21st April
Phase four - Japan and USA - April 28th
Phase five - Rest of world - to be confirmed

"We are working with the distributors to actively promote the album with signing sessions and touring if possible and are seeking interested parties/ promoters to fullfill this requirement.

The UK tour is now underway and started with a fantastic night at Crook. Get along to a show you will not be dissapointed, it is a great night of hard rock."

TYGERS OF PAN TANG' "Back & Beyond" EP features two brand new songs — "Live For Today" and "Bury The Hatchet" — as well as three reworked classics ("Hellbound", "Take It" and "Rock And Roll Man"). The EP was mixed by Ben Matthews of THUNDER and released through THUNDER's record label.

TYGERS OF PAN TANG's new album, "Animal Instinct", sees the band "go back to their early roots, playing hard-edged rock in the manner of 'Wildcat' and 'Spellbound'," according to a press release.

TYGERS OF PAN TANG's current lineup is:

Robb Weir - Guitar
Dean Robertson - Guitar
Jacopo Meille - Vocals
Brian West - Bass
Craig Ellis - Drums

You can visit the Tygers website HERE.

HELLHAMMER RE-RELEASE

Tom Warrior, has announced release dates for the Hellhammer re-release. Hellhammer was the precursor to the mighty Celtic Frost.

This was posted via MySpace...

With the release of "Demon Entrails" on February 18th in Europe and February 26th in the U.S., the days of numerous sub-standard bootlegs of the classic Hellhammer demos - "Death Fiend", "Triumph of Death" and "Satanic Rites" - are finally over! "Demon Entrails" will also be available as an opulent oversized double CD media-book packaging and as a gatefold triple vinyl album. Both versions will feature a lavish booklet and a poster. A bare-bones lower-price CD version will be available.

To celebrate this pinnacle release, the official "Demon Entrails" microsite has been launched at www.demonentrails.com. Fans can pre-order all three versions at a special price for a limited time only. The site also features album cover art and complete track listings.

"Demon Entrails" has been specially re-mastered from copies of the original master tapes under the supervision of founder Tom Gabriel Fischer, and the demos now represent Hellhammer exactly as the band sounded when recording these songs in June and December of 1983. Drawing from a wealth of previously unknown historical liner-notes, material and artwork, as well as plenty of unreleased Hellhammer photos from 1982 to 1984, "Demon Entrails" features all lyrics and essays detailing the individual demo recording sessions.

ANARCHY AT CAIN'S

I found a pretty cool web page about Sex Pitsols, southern US tour in 1978. This page in particular documents their visit to Tulsa, OK when they played the now legendary Cain's Ballroom.

Thursday, January 12, 1978

Cain's Ballroom

Arriving in snow-covered Tulsa, the band was clearly split into
two groups: Steve and Paul, the true musicians in the band, and
Johnny and Sid, the group's instigators. At the beginning of the
tour, both John and Sid were determined to offend America any way
they could, but the more Sid hogged the spotlight, the more John
withdrew. Everyone expected John to outrage every American crowd
he performed in front of, but, in true punk fashion, he defied the
public's expectations. After the Longhorn fiasco, he had simply
given up trying to shock the U.S.

The band's show in Tulsa was picketed by 30 protestors including a
Baptist pastor, who argued, "There is a Johnny Rotten inside each
of us, and he doesn't need to be liberated, he needs to be
crucified." There were no major brawls at the performance, and the
audience of 600 was fairly enthusiastic. As always, objects were
thrown at the band, various remarks were exchanged between band and
audience, and Steve and Paul provided the group's musical foundation.
Steve, obviously not concerned about being a "rock star," wore a
heavy coat onstage (he was fighting a cold). Sid tried hitting an
audience member with his bass as he did in San Antonio but was
stopped by a roadie.

After the show, the band travelled to California for what would be
their last performance together.
